Friday, May 22, 2015

A 140-foot bulletproof cross is being build in Karachi, Pakistan. Pakistan is one of the country where violence against minorities like Christians are very often .Pakistani Christians are very brave and faithful communities in the world. They will never leave Jesus behind at any matter. Over the years many Churches has been destroyed many Christians were dead due to the Islamic extremism in Pakistan. But yet they never loose their hope and faith in Christ. On the Open Doors World Watch List, Pakistan stands at No.8. But yet some Christians like Pervez Henry Gill, have this great faith and courage to build a 140- foot cross in the middle of the "blood"city Karachi.

What is the Purpose of book of Revelation?

Given the situation that brought about the  composition of Revelation and for which the book was written, its purpose and message ought  to be easy to discern. In the first place it exhorts Christians to remain faithful to their Lord despite all the adversities they might have to suffer. That is why it offers reasons for hope to those to those who are disconcerted and besieged by adversities. God is the Lord of Lords and King of the Kings. The Lamb, "the first born of the dead "because of his fidelity to God, is in control of history. By means of hymns and triumphant portrayals John ensures those who remain faithful that just as with the 144,000 and the myriads of others in heaven, they too will participate in the glory ( the wedding feast) of the Lamb in the heavenly Jerusalem.

Second, when he afirms God's justice and final victory John is warning those Christians tempted by syncretism or apostasy that one cannot serve two Lords; the beast and the Lamb, the emperor with his institutions and God.By means of the calamities depicted John categorically affirms that all those who turns their back to on God are headed toward a catastrophic end. His message was therefore uncomplicated for the Christians: assured of the divine sovereignty and justice, be faithful to the Lord! Nobody, nothing will escape God's judgement ! Only those  who are faithful will enjoy the Lamb's marriage and the heavenly Jerusalem .

The centre of attention here, rather than the calamities, is the final triumph; it is Christ and not the emperor of the Roman empire. The overall perspective is focused on present, looking toward the future ( and not on the future, looking back at the present ) : it is to live faithfully today one's commitment to Christ till the end. John's concern is for the Christians, not the Romans.

Thus we see the purpose of the Revelation runs along the lines of liberation and the victory of justice.Fidelity to the Lord presupposes not only having him faithfully in one's daily life, evidenced by ones's "work" . Succinctly put , Revelation is  a book of hope and of eschatological optimism. It is one of the clearest imaginable affirmations of the absolute sovereignty of God and of the Lamb.

How does the Church view of other Religions?

Wednesday, May 20, 2015
The Church respects everything in other religion that is good and true .She respects and promotes freedom of religion as human right. Yet she knows that Jesus Christ is the sole redeemer of all mankind. He alone is " the way , and the truth, and the life " - John 14:6

However anyone who recognised that Jesus Christ is " the way and the truth and the life " but is unwilling to follow him cannot find salvation by other paths. This is what meant by the saying, "Extra ecclesiam nulla salus" , which literally mean in English as "outside of the Church there is no salvation".

Matthew 7: 15-20
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."

Jesus himself warned us about false religions and false prophets which come after him , so it is clear that Jesus is the only way to Heaven .

Buddhism , Hinduism and Sikhism is also good faiths that promotes humanity and respect to the nature .

Can people be forced to believe in God? (Christian View)

Can people be forced to believe in God?

No.No one may force others to believe , not even one's own children , just as no one may be forced to be an unbeliever. A person can make the decision to believe only in complete freedom. Christians, however called to help other people , by word and example, to find the way to faith.

Pope John Paul II said, "Proclaiming Christ and bearing witness to him, when done in  a way that respects conscience, does not violate the freedom, faith demands a free adherence on the part of  man, but at the same  time faith must also be offered to him" - Encyclical Redemptoris missio, 1990, no.8)

The Daily Catholic : 20 May 2015

Verse of the day :
"In all my prayers for all of you , I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now " - Philipians 1: 4-5

Saint of the day : Bernardine of Siena
